The 6th Sphere of a FriendMaker is the Sphere of Leading. 

Competence begins with knowledge. Know your craft, inside and out. Be damn good at your job. Only then can you truly lead someone through the sales process.

Lead yourself well. Take care of your heart and mind. Train yourself how to think. And above all, serve. 

Serve people humbly, competently, and faithfully. Serve out of a genuine heart of gratitude for the opportunity to be in front of these people. If you do this, they will follow you. 

DO

3 practices.

1. Know your craft. Don’t fake it till you make it. Learn it until you earn it. It does no one any good for you to pretend. Plus, people can spot a fake a mile away.

2. Provide Wisdom based on Experience. The only way you’re gonna get good at leading people through the process is by getting Reps. Repetition is what makes us better. Aristotle was right,”We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Get the Reps in.

3. Model a Servants heart.  Jesus was arguably the greatest Servant who ever lived. He said “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” Get behind people instead of in front of them. Take the back seat before others. Put them up on your shoulders and support them instead of expecting support. Be last. It’s ok. It’s in moving to the back of the line that you actually move towards the front. Model a servants heart. This is how to lead well.
