Be
There’s a need in all of us to have some kind of steadiness in our lives.
Our clients need for us to be reliable, steady, and sure.
Fickle, fanciful, and doubtful are not the characteristics of successful business people.
Enter Alignment.
Alignment is the ability to have your character, your goals, your activities, and your overall persona lined up together.
We seek alignment so that we can offer dependability to those who follow our lead.
When we are dependable, then we are reliable. When we are reliable we are perceived as steady. When we are steady, our confidence shines forth.
Ultimately the goal is being “Referable”. We want people to have such confidence in us that they are willing to send us to their friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else they know.
Do
How do we increase our alignment? I suggest 3 ways.
1. Stop worrying about what everyone else thinks. Opinions stink. So, stop listening to them. Be you. Be confident. Be an outsider. It’s ok. when you are free from having to perform for everyone else, you are freed up to make new paths, carve new roads, and create a new future.
2. Seek Congruence. When you say you’re going to do some, do it. Don’t make promises you don’t intend to keep. Listen to what your client needs and act on the needs they share with you. Let your life line up with your words.
3. Understand Drift. Eventually everything descends into chaos. If you don’t get a handle on daily re-alignment, then eventually it will all go out of control. The most important thing to remember is that you have to keep reassessing where you are, where you want to be, and where you’re currently heading. If things are drifting, then it’s time for a course correction.
