Consistency

BE

Business is about faithfulness. Faithfulness is showing up every day ready to play. It’s being there even when the customers aren’t walking in the front door and you aren’t getting any leads. It’s stepping up to the plate even though you’ve struck out the last five times. It’s asking for forgiveness from your spouse one more time even though you’ve failed time and time and time again.

The farmer shows up every day, plows the field, prepares the soil, plants the seeds, and keeps trusting the process because he knows that if he keeps showing up everyday consistently, he will reap the harvest in due time. And so it is for you and me.

It’s easy to show up for work every day when you know you are going to get paid on Friday. But what happens if you are in a business that is 100% commission? What happens when your business is seasonal or cyclical?

Here’s the truth. You have to have a different mindset. You no longer work by the hour. You work by the job. Getting the job is going to require consistency in the form of faithfulness.

DO

How do we begin to live in the mind space that is required for the entrepreneurs lifestyle?

1. Understand the law of the Harvest. Look at yourself as a farmer. Plant seeds every day. Call people every day. Write notes every day. Connect with new people, every day. These are the seeds you plant when you are waiting for the harvest.

2. Have a call to action every day. Every social media post, every conversation, every letter… ask for business. It doesn’t have to be sales-y, but it has to be consistent, or people won’t know that you need them.

3. Humble yourself. It’s a very vulnerable thing to be in sales. You won’t succeed unless people trust you. And people won’t trust you until they see consistency in your business practice. Keep doing the work.

If you do these things, it’s not a matter of if business will come, it’s simply a matter of time.
