Be

Our words carry weight.

We sometimes don’t realize the weight of our words and so we use them haphazardly.

Words spoken without thought can come across rude, insensitive, or much worse, offensive.

We live in the age of the digital revolution. Our social media feeds are filled with words.

People have begun to speak with a boldness they would never have if they were face to face with those they spar with online.

Words prove us cowards or brave souls.

Which one do you strive to be?

Do

How do we get better at being wordsmiths, weaving a tapestry of creativity, beauty, and life with the words we speak to ourselves, our loved ones, our clients, and our strategic business partners?

Here’s 3 ways:

1. Listen more, speak less. Where there are more words, there’s more of a chance for foolishness to come out. Shut up. Listen.

2. Think before you do speak. The next time you’re talking to someone, as you are listening to what they are saying, pause and let them finish. Then, think about your words as you speak them.

3. Cultivate an inner spirit of peace. Out of the heart flows your speech. If your speech is negative, patronizing, or offensive to those around you, then it’s time to take a look at your heart. If you can’t get there personally. Go to therapy. Let a good therapist teach you tools you can use to calm your heart down and cultivate a slow, quiet, peaceful inner spirit.

Your words will flow better when you listen more, think more, and cultivate your spirit more. And people will be drawn to you instead of repelled by you.
